Kiruna snow festival: The largest snow festival in Europe. Snow is sculptured into fine art under the sparkling cascade of the Northern Lights. Dog-sledge and reindeer racing in the centre of Kiruna. A festival to celebrate winter, darkness, cold and the Northern lights.

Feb 7-9 Jokkmokk's Great Sami (Lapp) Winter Fair. A historical event since 1605. The fair features Traditional market activities, art exhibits, Sami Handicrafts, concerts, dancing, a reindeer festival.

March 3 Vasaloppet Ski Race in Dalarna. 14.000 cross-country skiiers race 90 km (56 miles) between between Sälen and Mora.

Walpurgis Night: On the doorstep to spring, at the last day of April, Swedes celebrate Walpurgis Eve with choral singing, speeches and above all crackling bonfires, which are seen all around the country. 
May 25-26 Tjejtrampet- bicycle event: Starts from Gärdet, Central Stockholm. The world's biggest all-woman cycling event, for elite and amateur cyclists. The course distance is 51 km;
